Today, I am very happy to begin a new chapter as a professor at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in beautiful Bocholt.

Jonathan Liebers at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Bocholt

The past years have been an incredible journey, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported me along the way. In particular, I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Sven Mayer, the Human-AI Interaction Group, the Research Center Trustworthy Data Science and Security (RC Trust), and TU Dortmund University for the opportunity to continue my research as a postdoctoral researcher. Shortly before this transition, I was also delighted to be admitted to the Young Academy of TU Dortmund University following a successful grant proposal.

I am equally grateful to Prof. Dr. Stefan Schneegass and the University of Duisburg-Essen for giving me the opportunity to pursue my doctorate and build the foundation for my academic career. My sincere thanks also go to everyone with whom I have had the pleasure of collaborating, co-authoring research, teaching, sharing an office, and exchanging ideas over the years.

At the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, I will continue my work at the intersection of usable security, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and extended reality. I am especially interested in how intelligent systems can better understand and support people, how agentic AI can assist with security-related tasks, and how implicit interaction can make security more seamless without compromising privacy or user control.

I look forward to bringing these topics into my teaching, developing new research projects, and building new collaborations within the university and beyond. I am thankful and excited about the opportunities and challenges ahead—and very much looking forward to becoming part of the community in Bocholt.
